Chicago Med Season 8 - What We Know So Far
As Season 7 of "Chicago Med" begins to wrap up, many viewers are already looking forward to the next batch of episodes. Season 8 has been guaranteed since early 2020 when Wolf Entertainment signed a five-year contract to stay with their studio at NBC. The deal included three-year renewals for Wolf's hit series "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and all three shows in the "One Chicago" franchise (via NBC).
The medical drama has followed the personal and professional lives of the doctors, nurses, and staff of the emergency department at the fictional Gaffney Chicago Medical Center since 2015. Season 7 has already begun to set up surprising storylines for Season 8, and fans couldn't be more excited.
With characters from the original cast coming back and the jaw-dropping return of Dr. Will Halstead's (Nick Gehlfuss) former flame, the stakes are already high for the upcoming season.

Chicago Med Season 8 promises to shake things up
Season 7 of "Chicago Med" saw the return of Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee), who has been recovering from consecutive injuries. Fans were delighted to see the day-one character back on his feet, and he will appear more frequently when Season 8 picks up.
On the other hand, Kristen Hager, who plays Dr. Stevie Hammer, will be leaving "Chicago Med." Hager became a series regular in Season 7, but her character soon left the Windy City to save her marriage back in Michigan. The show's producers revealed to Deadline that Hammer could return to Gaffney in the future, though Season 8 seems too soon.
Steven Weber, who plays Dr. Dean Archer, was recently bumped up to a series regular and will be returning for Season 8. The most noteworthy cast change came when Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) made her stunning return to the hospital toward the end of Season 7.
Schram, now a series regular, will be at the center of Season 8's storylines as her character works to maintain her sobriety. Executive producer Diane Frolov explained that they wanted a familiar face with unfinished business to carry into the upcoming season. She added that Asher will have to prove herself to her former colleagues while navigating her rocky relationship with Halstead, who recently lost his shot with Hammer.
The details about what Season 8 of "Chicago Med" will look like are still under wraps, but the show is confirmed to return later this year on NBC.
